Unplanned road trips are always fun and one such trip brought me to a huge monolithic hill, Madhugiri Betta or Madhugiri hill. The hill is named after a small town, Madhugiri, located at about a 110 km from Bangalore, Karnataka.
There is something to the tiny twinkling earthen lamps that are lit during the festival of Diwali or Deepavali. The lamps signify the triumph of light over darkness. They not only remove the darkness, but also spread cheer and joy among Indians across the globe. It is this widespread joy and the prettiness of lights everywhere that makes this my favourite festival.
Very few restaurants in Bangalore leave you overwhelmed in awe once you enter them. Olive Beach, situated in Ashok Nagar, Bangalore is one such place.
Why, you ask?
This video should do the talking because Opeth, is beyond what can be expressed in words.
Opeth is a Swedish progressive metal band from Stockholm, formed in 1990. I first started listening to Opeth when a friend told me about it back in my college days (Aniruddha :P). At the time, I wasn’t into growlly forms of metal. Knowing how technically great Opeth is, however, I was interested in hearing what they had to offer from an acoustic perspective. Loving their music immediately, I downloaded a whole bunch of their songs. Black Rose Immortal is my all time favourite and was my song of choice during my transit to college.
These are my all time Opeth favourites

A small presentation that I had to do for my German class. Got to love Prezi!
The Shivanasamudra waterfalls situated at a distance of 135 kms are formed out of the branching of the River Cauvery.
It has been exactly a year since I began working and it’s fascinating how much has transpired in this duration. To say that the past year has been a roller coaster ride, is an understatement!
The biggest transformation that I notice is how far I’ve had to come, from sleeping 10 hours a day to barely scraping in 7 hours! Another change is that I can finally say – Ich kann Deutsch, ein bisschen! 😀
On a serious note, the most important thing that I have learnt and experienced is that it is important to find what you love doing. Doing what you love is always an amazing feeling!
The one thought that has driven me through all the tough decisions that I had to make and continues to drive me is something that my mentors have told me.
Life is about chasing your passions, don’t stop!
To add on to that, I feel that life is also about –
- Learning to make time for the things you love (hobbies) and the people who love you.
- Enjoying the little things in life – a cup of coffee, the rains or a beautiful sunset.
The first item on that list needs considerable work, apologies to everyone who’s shouted at me for replying a day late 😛
Cheers to everyone else with me and here’s to a future full of big milestones to celebrate! Oh yes, also to a lot of coffee and a lot of <br> ‘s in life!
